Day four

Well today started off pretty stressful, Kira got bored and decided to rip out some staples so i ended up having to take her back up to the vet. They told me it wasnt to bad and all they did was give her a elizabethan collar for when im not home to watch her. Kira went three days without using the bathroom so i was pretty scared about that but tonight i took her out and she went number 1 and 2 so im pretty excited about that!! 🙂

Yay for peeing and pooping! It’s such a great sign of recovery! The more Kira discovers her ‘new normal’ by getting back into routine things, the more relaxed and confident she will be. If she hates the collar, they do make a much more comfortable one that is like an inflatable donut ring. Petco, Petsmart, etc all carry them.

Sounds like she’s doing (and you’re doing) a great job!
Remember – lots and lots of medicinal naps.

happy peeing and pooping!! sometimes we’ve seen rear-leggers put a pair of boy’s boxer shorts over their pups (tail through the fly) to keep them from messing with the incision. glad kira continues to do well!!

Peeing and pooping, happiest moment after the amputation. Such an accomplishment! Boxers do work great as long as Kira doesn’t pull them off. Boomer hated the E collar and figured out quickly how to hook his paw in the neck and slide out of it.
Good luck and happy to hear Kira is doing well enough to be a little naughty.

Hey girlfriend, don’t rip out those staples again OK? I mean I like a tough Shepie girl and all but I don’t want to see you hurt yourself!

Hope you don’t have to wear the cone of shame for very long.
